#5 – Run a Half Marathon

Earlier this Summer, I decided it was time to take on my idea of running a half marathon.  Eric and I had bought new running shoes, got our training schedule, and we were ready to do it!  We decided to run the Half Marahon in Indy on October 16th.  We trained for 12 long, grueling weeks.  At one point or another one or both of us wanted to give up.  Somehow we kept going and finally the day of the race was here.  Thank God!

Our main goal was to just finish the race.  13.1 miles is crazy far at least to us it is.  Our second goal was to finish it in under 3 hours.  We really pushed ourselves and we did the best we could.  I pulled something in my leg around mile 10 and thought it was all over for a minute, but I only had 3 miles left so I made myself suck it up.  We ended up finishing at 2 hours and 58 minutes.  I know that’s pretty slow, but I was proud.


Now if I could only convince Eric to try another one with me and we could get that time down some!  🙂
